Having identified a gap in the identification of young carers and adult carers looking after someone with substance misuse issues, over the past year we have successfully piloted a project to identify and provide long-term support to these carers. We are now entering the second year of the project, and are looking for a new Family Support Worker to bring their expertise, enthuasism and ideas to the next stage of the project. 

The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. The successful candidate will ensure that adult and young carers, and their families, have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs.

The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, children and young people. We are seeking candidates with a professional qualification in health & social care, youth or community work, and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions.

About Us
Carers’ Hub plays a vital role in Lambeth, supporting the many unpaid carers across the borough. Our work stems from the fact that carers often go about their roles despite the toll it might take on their own wellbeing, often having to make sacrifices that hamper their own ability to lead a normal life. Whether financial, educational or otherwise, we seek to limit the challenges that carers face. We achieve this through four core workstreams: 

1. raising awareness of carers, 

2. influencing local policy through community engagement activities, 

3. improving carer wellbeing and

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of and help shape a new DHSC funded project - Early Support Hubs - providing innovative ways to support Young People’s (11 – 25 years) Mental Health and Wellbeing across the borough of Hackney.

This Early Intervention approach will enable young people to access support in a timely way within their own community and we will work collaboratively with the Hackney Super Youth Hub enabling a one stop shop experience for local young people.

We are looking for passionate and motivated Therapeutic Youth Workers who are committed to supporting positive change for local young people to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

· Undertake 1:1, group, detached and outreach work with young people

· Provide one-to-one key-working up to 12 sessions, combining youth work values and principles with a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach to help address a wide range of issues that may impact on young people’s mental health and wellbeing e.g. housing, employment, physical health, education, finances and relationships.

· Use a supportive, young person-centred approach. e.g. explaining what services are and what they do, ensuring information is accurate and up-to-date, filling out forms together, making personal introductions, accompanying young people to initial meetings/sessions, being with them during phone calls etc.  

· To work with the Hackney Super Youth Hub, to support young people and liaise with appropriate professionals in the network.

· To maintain confidential, up to date and accurate records of all sessions and plans.

· Be an advocate for young people, supporting colleagues to understand adolescence, and how to engage with young people, particularly with concerns around:

o mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.

o Supporting vulnerable groups who would not otherwise receive support (levelling-up).

o Improving children and young people’s engagement with EET.

Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):

· QCF Level 3 Diploma in Youth work or equivalent and have experience of youth work in a youth work setting

· Experience of working with young people, delivering therapeutic groups and/or 1 to 1 interventions in a youth work or similar setting.

· To have an active interest in working with those affected by mental health issues and recognise the impact this has on their life.

· Experience of building positive, impactful relationships with young people responding to their needs

· Excellent, up to date knowledge and understanding of safeguarding needs and risks young people may face.

· Experienced in working as part of a safeguarding team around a child, i.e. Childrens services, education, CAMHS, etc

· Experience of working in with an outreach role, in the community and school settings.

· Confident working well independently as well as in a team setting.

· Ability to use own initiative and be able to respond to change as part of a pilot initiative.

· Computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite (incl. Outlook and Word), with ability to accurately input sensitive data electronically

The Active Wellbeing programme (AW)

The Active Wellbeing programme is a specialist mental health exercise referral programme. This programme is designed to engage and promote health and wellbeing to people diagnosed with a severe mental illness (SMI). The programme involves delivering a 10 week, 1:1 personal training programme to clients with severe mental health illnesses (SMI) which can include: Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Severe Clinical Depression.  

The Active Wellbeing programme – Learning Disabilities (AW)

The Active Wellbeing programme is expanding to work with adults with learning disabilities who also have a long and enduring mental health condition. The programme LD involves delivering a 10 week, 1:1 personal training programme to clients with long and enduring mental health conditions and individuals with learning disabilities.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver a weekly physical activity session for each client considering safety and progression with each of the 10 sessions. 
• Monitor clients exercise intensity, type, and ability to ensure clients are exercising safely.
• Monitoring clients mental wellbeing during sessions to ensure safety and communicating any concerns to the line manager.
• Responsible for arranging weekly sessions with clients (and in some cases carers alongside)
• High level of communication between instructor and client (in some cases carers or support workers) to confirm session times and locations.
• High level of communication between instructor and line manager to report any concerns with a clients mental and physical wellbeing during sessions.
• Provide motivation and encouragement for clients to engage in sessions and stay engaged in their programme. 
• Responsible for the setup of equipment for outdoor or online sessions.
• Responsible with checking in and out of sessions with the admin team to ensure safety of both instructor and client. 
• Responsible for checking the safety of equipment. If equipment is faulty and needs to be replaced, responsible for communicating this with the Active Wellbeing programme coordinator. 
• Responsible for administering first aid in the event of an accident and ensuring that safety requirements are met in all areas.

The Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (Rape Crisis South London) is looking for a therapist with experience of working therapeutically with acute high risk presentations to join our Children and Young People’s Counselling Service as a Well-being and Safeguarding Counsellor. Working alongside play therapists, family prevention practitioners and school well-being counsellors, you will provide specialist therapy to girls and young women aged 5+ in hubs across the South London Boroughs. ● Clinical supervision

● A salary of £36,000 - £38,000, dependent on experience, pro rata

● An in-depth induction training programme which includes the different types of sexual violence, impacts and coping strategies and the RASASC empowerment model

Overall Duties of the role will include:

• Being an accessible point of contact for the children living with our carers and to our young people, keeping them up to date with the facilities and opportunities available with TACT

As we have launched our ambitious 5-year strategic plan this post will play a key role at Greenwich Students’ Union in supporting students to stay and succeed at university.

GSU Advocacy and Policy Team is leading an award-winning outreach project that seeks to support students to stay and succeed at Greenwich. A team of part-time student staff call 1000’s of students each term, supporting them to navigate University life, services and GSU. This role will support the award-winning team to deliver proactive supportive calls to students.

In this post you will :

• To supervise the retention calling project staff
• To support with escalations for students experiencing difficulties
• To spot trends in student issues and assist with reporting

We’re looking for an enthusiastic candidate who has an interest in supporting our students to become their best.

You don’t have to come from a higher education background, but you should have an interest in supporting students to succeed.

This role sits within the Advocacy and Policy Team and focus on making 1-1 timely interventions to support students to succeed as well as identifying broader trends in student behaviour to inform our strategic approach to services and support.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

This post holder will be part of the Advocacy and Policy Team and will be expected to contribute to the department’s wider objectives and planning.

Delivery of Outreach

• Coordinate the team to deliver outbound phone calls and taking inbound calls in a call centre model, including opening and closing
• Ensure that the quality of personal outreach delivery is consistent and in line with the agreed scripts and conversation structures to support students
• Ensure the team provide excellent customer service to students, at all times seeking to support students’ needs appropriately, clarifying information and providing appropriate solutions
• Support other retention and wellbeing initiatives throughout the year

Supervision

• Support with training and development of student-staff team
• Support with the scheduling of shifts, monitoring of attendance and submitting of payroll
• Undertake 1-1’s with student staff, identifying additional support

Signposting & Monitoring

• Keep accurate records of all calls and student outreach in line with provided data tools
• Support callers to identify potential concerns from students and signpost students to the most relevant support pathway
• Closely monitor for any safety or safeguarding concerns from students, and support with escalations
• Support with the analysis of issues and regular reporting as directed

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a refuge worker within a refuge service, supporting women and their children fleeing domestic abuse. An opportunity has arisen for a lead Support worker to work within our Sanctuary crisis intervention and prevention service, based in Fore Street in Enfield. We act as a short-term A&E and Emergency services alternative, providing support to individuals in the Enfield Borough aged 18+. 

This role is to provide leadership and support to the Sanctuary team on shift. The role will:

• Lead shifts during the week, providing support to team members via case management support, escalation, Health and Safety guidance
• Support the Sanctuary Manager to embed processes within the service, and ensure that these are carried out
• Work alongside the Manager and team to ensure that the service is operating to high quality standard.
• Provide support in times of emotional distress for clients. The support worker will provide a calm, supportive presence.

 The role will support clients through co-producing support plans with practical and therapeutic support offerings, as well as contributing to the development of a warm welcoming environment and ‘safe space’ to be.

This position would suit someone with a minimum of 2 years experience of working with people with mild, moderate and severe mental health issues.

The Sanctuary Service runs Monday - Friday, 5pm-10pm and at weekdays, 12-5pm. We would require the successful applicant to be able to work 4 shifts (21 hours per week) covering these days/times.
