Greater Manchester Youth Federation (“GMYF”) is looking for 3 Youth Workers (2 x Part Time and 1 Full Time) who will work with young people at their Partington Youth and Community Centre and Whitemoss Centre in Charlestown, Manchester.
About GMYF
GMYF is a long-established charity that works with young people across Greater Manchester, to support their aspirations and create opportunities. Our mission is to deliver a year-round programme of recreational and educational opportunities to young people, volunteers and leaders within our stand-alone centres and to provide support to affiliated clubs.
GMYF opened our first Youth Centre in Partington in September 2022 and are in the process of opening a new Youth Centre in Charlestown. These Centres provide support for young people with a wide range of activities and make a real difference to the lives of many young people. We also have various current/former playing field sites in the Greater Manchester area and jointly own an Outward Activities Centre in Cumbria – Ormside Mill. We have 27 affiliated clubs who undertake a variety of different activities for young people. GMYF has great ambition to continue to do more for young people, with its own assets and various potential funding opportunities.

The Roles
The role of the Youth Worker is to be young person centred and to provide a nurturing, safe and supporting environment for the young people, building and maintaining positive relationships with them. You will be predominantly based at Partington Youth and Community Centre working with 9-16 year olds. You will support the Youth Activities Lead in planning and delivering a full programme of activities including Centre-based activities and outdoor trips, as well as supporting our outdoor adventure team with outdoor activities and residentials.
Key areas of focus for the Youth Worker will be:

Support the young people: always take a young person-centred approach to all activities. Maintain the ethos of the organisation by providing a nurturing, safe and supporting environment. Build and maintain positive relationships with the young people, recognising their different needs and starting points. Have strong commitment to the values of acceptance and respect within youth and community work. Be a positive role model for the young people. Encourage the young people to take an active role in social action projects youth voice and young leader activities.

Assist the Youth Activities Lead: work together with the team in planning and delivery of full programme of activities, including evening youth club sessions. Assist in the development and introduction of additional activities eg twilight sessions, drop ins, youth voice, targeted group work, mentoring. Identify the formal and informal educational, social, cultural and recreational needs of the young people and plan a programme of positive interventions and innovations which enhances the knowledge, awareness and personal development of the young people. Articulate and record young people’s progression in sessional and project recording documentation and provide information for management and funding reporting. ·

Residentials: Attend weekend residentials and events at the GMYF’s outdoor pursuits centre and encourage the young people to get involved. Support and assist with the planning and delivery of off-site trips/activities and residentials at various locations.

Safeguarding: comply with all policies and procedures, with reference to safeguarding, codes of conduct, health and safety, and equality and diversity. Be alert to issues of safeguarding and child protection, ensuring the welfare and safety of youth club members is promoted and safeguarded. Report any child protection concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. Participate in Safeguarding training.

Represent Greater Manchester Youth Federation: Ensure conduct is professional and represents Greater Manchester Youth Federation in a positive manner both to internal and external visitors, working with a wide range of both local partners and community organisations.

Continued Personal Development: Commit to your own training and development, accessing available training including youth work specific courses e.g. National Youth Agency courses. Funding and support is available from GMYF to assist your continued development.
About You
We are looking for candidates who believe in GMYF’s mission and are experienced in working with young people. You should be able to build positive relationships with young people, always taking a young person centred approach. You will have some experience planning and delivering activities, and bring creative and innovative ideas about activities you could run for the young people. You should have strong teamwork and organisational skills, understanding of safeguarding, and willingness to undertake further training.
Salary & Benefits
£22,369-27,852 FTE depending on experience. NJC Grade 4-5
Hours: part-time roles 17.5 hours per week and 35 hours per week full-time role– needs to be flexible, includes evenings and occasional residentials. Flexible working hours will be considered depending on successful candidates.

Katherine Low Settlement’s work with older people
Katherine Low Settlement has worked with older people since its conception in 1924.They are a core part of the community that we continue to work with. We provide, often in partnership, a range of projects and activities for older people including health and wellbeing; creative arts; intergenerational work; connecting people and trips/outings. Our services include an Older People's Lunch Club, Contact Club, T’ai Chi for Elders, exercise and social sessions, and support online.
We work with older people to:
• Encourage active and independent living
• Reduce isolation and loneliness
• Improve well-being and prevent ill-health
• Enable older residents to be dynamic and contributing members of the Wandsworth community.
Key Objectives for the Elders Core Service Manager Role:
- Team Leadership: Lead a team of dedicated part-time paid staff and volunteers, including a cook, support worker, minibus driver, and sessional workers.
- Day-to-Day Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of the Elders Core Service, including the lunch club, transport, social sessions, and overseeing the one-to-one work of the core team.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the wider team to provide a hands-on program that builds on older people's strengths and potential.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project in collaboration with the Head of Programme.
- Budget Management: Ensure the program operates within budget constraints.
- Member Engagement: Support the planning of the core program with input from elder members and the wider team.
- Recruitment and Support: Recruit and support new and existing members (service users).
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Delivery
- Planning and Oversight: Ensure that all service output aligns with KLS' vision, mission, values, and charitable objectives. Organize and promote one-off activities throughout the year.
- Transport Management: Manage the transport offer, including route planning and pick-up schedules.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate activity records, registers, and casework notes for the core team.
- Outreach and Support: Conduct outreach work with older people in the community, oversee home visits, and manage a small caseload.
2. Staff and Volunteer Management
- Recruitment and Line Management: Recruit and manage the Outreach and Support Workers, Lunch Club Cook, and relevant social activities workers and volunteers.
- Performance Management: Use performance management and quality systems to monitor and evaluate the project's work and processes.
3. Relationships, Communication, and Networks
- Member Engagement: Build and sustain strong relationships with elder members.
- Communication: Oversee communication for the Core Programme, including newsletters, activities calendar, annual reports, and social media platforms.
- Meetings: Attend meetings on behalf of the Core Programme as required.
4. Finance
- Budget Management: Manage project areas to budget and maintain financial records as agreed with the Head of Programme.
5. Other Duties
- Professional Development: Participate in regular management supervision and annual appraisal. Identify job-related development and training needs.
- Professional Conduct: Professionally undertake roles, maintaining a high-quality standard of work in line with KLS's aims, values, and ethos.

Bonny Downs Community Association has been working together to change lives and transform our community since 1998. Over the past 25 years our team has grown to provide a wide array of services that benefit Newham residents from all walks of life.
This role is specifically funded through the Youth Endowment fund as a pilot project ‘Thriving Communities’. Staff from each organisation will work together to deliver the programme and cross-refer young people to activities led by both teams. Context of Role:
Our Head of Young People's Services is a critical, strategic and operational role within Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone. As a supporting member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will work closely with the Director of Operations, CEO and the Director of Finance to ensure the charity delivers its vision and strategic objectives. This includes strategies for sustaining and overseeing the ongoing transformation of Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zones' operational business plan and its operational processes and infrastructure. In this varied and rewarding role you will engage, motivate and support young carers and in doing so you will make a real difference to young carers within Surrey.
You will be based at our offices in Burpham, Guildford for approximately one day a fortnight, with access to hotdesking at any time. Your remaining working hours will be spent engaging with young carers within youth settings, schools or other settings or undertaking planning/recording work from home. - To complete an assessment of need with young carers and provide signposting advocacy and support.
- To work in schools/colleges to increase the identification and support of young carers.
- To provide regular and on-going time out and fun club sessions for young carers to meet others in similar situations and have a break from their caring role.
- To update the database and SYC webpages– for example to update young carers records and update details of planned youth clubs.

About you
You must:
- Be confident in encouraging children, young people and their parents/carers to engage with our activities.

- Have awareness of issues surrounding Young Carers.
- Have a flexible approach to working hours, as regular planned weekend and evening work is required.

This is an exciting role based in our Development Office, which is vital to the smooth running of our alumni community, the Old Ipswichians. Our alumni are an important part of the School’s past, present and future. In this role you will take the lead in further developing and enhancing our events, alumni engagement and fundraising programme to encourage positive relationships with the School.

Key Responsibilities
1. Supervision and Team Support:
- Support the Youth Worker in Charge in providing guidance, mentorship and support to the youth workers and volunteers.
- Assist with the recruitment, training and onboarding of staff and volunteers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with the team to schedule and assign tasks, ensuring efficient operations and programme delivery.
2. Youth Engagement and Support:
- Build positive relationships with young individuals, creating a safe and inclusive environment where they feel respected, valued, and supported.
- Assist in providing guidance, mentorship and advocacy to young people, helping them navigate challenges and develop essential life skills.
- Contribute to creating opportunities for youth participation, empowerment and leadership within the club.
3. Safeguarding and Child Protection:
- Be a key part of the safeguarding team, as a Deputy Safeguarding Officer, at the youth club, ensuring the safety and well-being of all young individuals.
- Assist in developing and implementing safeguarding policies, procedures and practices in accordance with local regulations and best practices.
- Stay updated on current safeguarding issues and trends and provide training and guidance to staff and volunteers on safeguarding protocols.
4. Administrative Support:
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of attendance, programme participation and individual progress.
- Support in the preparation of reports, statistics and evaluations to assess program impact and inform decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures and regulations governing youth clubs and child protection.
5. Community Engagement:
- Collaborate with the Youth Worker in Charge to establish and maintain partnerships with local organizations, schools and community stakeholders.
- Assist in organizing community events, workshops and initiatives that promote youth participation and strengthen community connections.
- Represent the youth club at meetings and events as needed to support community engagement efforts.
Qualifications and Skills
-Level 2 or higher in a related field (e.g., social work, youth development, education) or equivalent practical experience.

We’re surrounded by junk food. From the moment we're born, every second of every day, children are being targeted. Giant companies manipulate them with colourful, cuddly, clever marketing, deceive them with packaging claims and pump products at them that are full of junk. It's become the cultural wallpaper. Now, it risks endangering the health of a generation.
In the UK, nearly a third of children aged 2-15 face a higher risk of food-related ill health in their futures. The good news is, it's preventable. And we're biting back.
Bite Back is a youth activist movement challenging a food system that's been set up to fool us all by:
1) Calling out the manipulation of the junk food giants.
2) Demanding higher standards from food marketing and from everyday food itself.
3) Mobilising and equipping young people in the fight for better food.
We do all this so we can bite back against a global epidemic of food-related ill health.
About Bite Back in Schools
Bite Back has delivered our youth social action programme — Bite Back in Schools— to over 120 schools over the last two years. Working with secondary schools, we have supported over 2,000 11-14 year olds to plan and deliver social action projects to prioritise child health by improving their school food. This could be by making nutritious and sustainable food the norm by increasing the flow of healthy options in their canteens, or by redesigning the school food experience to put healthy options in the spotlight.
With funding awarded from the #iWill Fund, we are recruiting a brilliant cohort of schools who will join the programme in September 2024. Our programme model combines an assembly delivered by a Bite Back young ambassador, five hours of curriculum time sessions for a whole year group, and our ever-popular and impactful School Food Champions (SFC) extra-curricular club. Role Description
The Programmes Manager plays a key role supporting our community of schools during their time on the programme. They will support the design and lead on the delivery of Bite Back in Schools to ensure the best possible user experience for young people, their teachers and their schools, and to ensure the programme makes the greatest possible impact.
The Programmes Manager will report to the Head of Programmes, and will work closely with colleagues across Bite Back, in particular with our comms, digital, youth and policy teams, working within our Strategy and Delivery Function.
Key responsibilities include:
Relationship management

Provide ongoing support to schools throughout their time on the programme, building strong working relationships with participating schools.

Lead communication with all schools, being the first point of contact for the coordinator and lead teacher in each school.

Support monitoring and evaluation through creation of surveys, ensuring completion of baseline and end of year surveys, and analysis of data submitted (in partnership with our external evaluators).

Book and arrange assemblies, coordinating between schools and our Bite Back Ambassadors.
Community management

Celebrate and share examples of best practice and impactful social action projects amongst our community of schools.

Design and deliver training and webinars for schools.

Lead on the design and delivery of competitions for schools.

Schedule and organise visits to schools, agreeing agendas with the schools in advance to include elements including meeting pupils and teachers, leading feedback sessions and focus groups and supporting the development of their social action campaigns.

Drafting of termly newsletters and regular emails to schools.

Create case studies and collate material to share with our comms and digital teams.

Encourage teachers and pupils to use the new Bite Back digital platform to share their stories and projects, and take part in broader Bite Back campaigns.

Grow our movement - supporting the recruitment of future cohorts by promoting the Bite Back in Schools programme, distributing recruitment comms, holding set up calls with interested schools, and guiding schools through the application and enrolment process, working closely with the Head of Programmes on the design of these processes.
Project management of systems and operational support

Manage the SFC inbox, dealing with enquiries from schools and other partners.

Process invoices related to the programme, liaising between schools and the Bite Back accounts team, and monitoring the monthly total payments made to schools.

Manage the budget for specific areas of programme expenditure, such as merchandise and Ambassador training.

Creating and uploading new high quality session plans, resources and materials to our digital platform as required.

Design and maintain reporting systems to monitor levels of engagement of individual schools, flagging concerns and proactively finding ways to mitigate issues to ensure schools remain on the programme.

Management of programmes section of Bite Back CRM system, keeping data up to date and accurate, and developing reports to share programme data with team and funders.

Identifying opportunities to optimise the potential of our programmes and proactively making suggestions for continuous improvement to our user experience, programme design and systems.
