- Ensure plans, risks and finances associated with project delivery are tracked as required and made visible for governance and portfolio management purposes.
- Use feedback and research to recommend improvements to RCR’s IT project management processes, implementing agreed changes.
- Support the Head of IT in the day-to-day management of invoices and of the IT budget, ensuring that spend is accounted for and managed according to RCR’s guidelines.
- Manage, administer and schedule regular board meetings. Follow up actions agreed in the board meeting, in partnership with the Head of IT.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes

Key responsibilities within the Communications Officer role will include:
- Writing engaging copy for a variety of mediums including both printed and digital
- Support the Director of Fundraising and Communications in creating and designing digital and print collateral for campaigns and events

An opportunity has arisen for a Programme Specialist to join the Humanitarian Unit on a permanent basis.
In this role you will:
- Support the development of Plan International UK’s disasters and emergencies portfolio, including programming that addresses disaster risk, and strengthens community resilience
- Develop and manage a significant part of Plan International UK’s humanitarian portfolio; predominantly in Francophone West & Central Africa
- Work across various areas, including grant management, programme development, and relationship building both internally and externally
- Act as a resource for the international organisation, providing support to disaster response on a deployment basis if required
You will need a solid background of designing and implementing humanitarian and/or DRR-Resilience projects and of securing and overseeing projects from major humanitarian donors (such as DFID, DEC, Start Network, UN), preferably with a focus on Francophone West and Central Africa. French fluency is a requirement for this role, due to the geographic coverage. You will also have experience of working in consortium to raise and manage major donor grants and the proven ability to develop and oversee grant funded programmes across all phases of the programme cycle. You’ll be able to demonstrate good knowledge of the role of children in development and disasters work, particularly in relation to child rights and participation.

The Chief Operations Officer will lead day-to-day operations, provide additional capacity at a pivotal time, update policies and processes, and ensure the organisation runs smoothly and efficiently, and keeps improving. A big focus on internal development in 2023/24 was on becoming an anti-racist organisation, an ongoing commitment and journey. This is a small team, so leaders need to enjoy covering a wide range of duties, from the strategic to hands-on. The role will involve close collaboration with the CEO.
Key responsibilities:
- You will lead on delivering operational, finance and people strategy as well as oversee finances, working closely with 3rd party finance providers to manage the allocation of resources and oversee budgeting, and grant management.
- Lead on all aspects of the HR function, taking charge of people development, staff support, finalise revised pay and wellbeing policies and implement changes.
- You'll support the team to develop and manage impactful partnerships and stakeholder relationships, providing strategic advice on project delivery and ensuring partnership arrangements are well planned and managed with care.
- You'll ensure they are compliant, maintaining effective internal policies and procedures, and are managing organisational risks effectively.
- Alongside the CEO, you'll support the board of trustees in ensuring organisational governance is solid.
To succeed in the role, you will need to have:
The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who has successfully led a team and can build relationships at all levels. You will have strong experience in charity financial management, significant operational experience ideally within the charity sector, including HR and people, improving policies and systems, and charity governance. You will be a highly motivated and driven self-starter, able to adapt quickly when priorities change. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience of leading internal organisation communications and creating high level reports and presentations. You will also have experience of implementing equality and human rights standards, for example the social work model of disability and anti-racist practices, throughout all areas of work. The ideal candidate may understand key concepts of structural inequality, combined with insight into your own experiences of advantage and disadvantage, and sensitivity and empathy to the rights and needs of colleagues.

Please note that this role requires flexibility to allow for changes to the weekly rota to meet the needs of our clients. During term time, the Family Centre is open on Saturdays and will require some Saturday working. The work pattern rotates from Tuesday – Saturday or Monday – Friday. During the school holiday periods, our programme changes and we do not open on Saturdays. You will therefore work Monday-Friday during these periods.

About the role:
We are looking for an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to work alongside our other Community IDVA. This is a full-time, permanent role. The aim of this role is to support victims of domestic abuse mainly covering Bedford, working with victims of domestic abuse who are predominately risk assessed as standard/medium. This role will also work alongside our other services covering Bedfordshire.
As an IDVA you will be:
- Providing a high quality support and advocacy service to victims of domestic abuse.
- Managing a caseload; identifying and assessing risks and needs, providing a tailored crisis intervention service through individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
- Working with other agencies and advocating on behalf of service users in order to help them access services to keep them safe.
- Working within a multi-agency framework consisting of partners as well as MARAC and other local partnerships to offer a coordinated response to domestic abuse.
- Promoting the service and raise awareness of domestic abuse through the delivery of training
You will need:
- Experience of working in support and advocacy with victims of domestic abuse is advantageous
- To be able to prioritise work and deal with competing or conflicting demands/needs and interests and promote organisation interests and values.
- To ideally hold a SafeLives IDVA accreditation, relevant degree, vocational qualification or relevant experience of delivering a service and working with domestic abuse victim's/service users in a statutory, voluntary or community work setting.
