Job description

About the Role
The LSO requires a Percussion Hire driver to deliver & collect percussion equipment from our customers as well as help with the warehouse duties. The position is being offered initially as a 12-month fixed-term full-time contract. During quiet times you may be asked to help load and unload any LSO equipment from other trucks. 


The Bell Percussion Team
The LSO’s Warehouse in Tottenham Hale is the new home of Bell Percussion. The London Symphony Orchestra entered a partnership with Bell Music Limited in 2022 whereby the LSO operates the Bell Percussion Hire business from the LSO warehouse in Tottenham.

We are looking for someone with experience in:
Essential

• Class B driving license

• Awareness of the percussion instrument sector, including some knowledge of the breadth of percussion instruments.

• Lifting and handling experience; to be able to handle large, heavy, valuable items using safe manual handling techniques whilst making every effort to avoid damage occurring.

• Excellent verbal, as well as written, communication skills.

• The ability to work within a closely-knit team.

• Maturity, diplomacy, patience, tact, and a good sense of humour.

• Willingness to work unsocial hours, including weekends.

• Ability to work to demanding deadlines and be able to work under pressure.

Desirable

• Experience of working with an orchestra

• Some musical knowledge

• Knowledge of the problems and complexities of logistical planning

• Knowledge of the methods and practices employed in handling, packing, loading, unloading, and stowing of musical instruments

• Awareness of the value of the instruments and special consideration that must be given when dealing with delicate and awkward instruments

• Proven computer skills

• Proven knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Regulations, and an understanding of the need to comply with these regulations

• Current Manual Handling training certificate
