Shepway Citizens Advice is seeking a new Chief Officer to replace the current very successful incumbent who intends to move on later this year.

The Chief Officer’s role is demanding and extremely rewarding – ensuring the organisation evolves to meet current challenges and leading its efforts to secure resources and work with partners to provide an excellent advice service for our community in Folkestone and Hythe and the surrounding area.

The Chief Officer will ensure that Shepway Citizens Advice continues to deliver free, independent, impartial and confidential advice services that meet the needs of our local community.

The Chief Officer will be responsible for leading and managing a team of paid staff and volunteers. The successful candidate will have proven leadership and management experience. They will be well-versed in strategic development and planning, financial and operational management, income generation, external relationships, and people management.  

The Chief Officer will promote and represent Shepway Citizens Advice by working actively and constructively with external partners and local agencies. They will need to maintain and develop our existing relationships with funders and identify new sources of funding and resources.

Digital Champions will operate at local community venues including Community Pharmacies, Phlebotomy clinics, and at community events, with a strong focus on NHS App promotion to Bexley residents. This is an opportunity to be at the centre of an exciting, innovative partnership project, working closely with the statutory and voluntary sector partners in taking the scheme into a new phase of development. Key Duties:

• To be the first point of contact for the existing network of Digital Champions in the borough, and support organisations to recruit, onboard and manage new Digital Champions.
• To directly manage a pool of Digital Champions under BVSC and lead on recruitment, onboarding, and training.
• To organise regular online and face-to-face meetings for Digital Champions.
• To develop and implement a communications plan that raises awareness of the Digital Champions Network in Bexley and of the challenges and opportunities digital inclusion presents.
• To explore new opportunities with partners and the sector more broadly in a way that aims to expand the digital champions project and create a more digitally inclusive culture for Bexley residents.
• To organise regular events, training and information sessions for Digital Champions based on needs.
• To collect data and write reports on the project for presentation to partnership committees and health and wellbeing boards.
• To represent Bexley Digital Champions at London-wide and national forums and conferences.
• Attend staff meetings, supervision and training as required.
• Identify, report, and monitor any safeguarding concerns in accordance with the latest local procedures relating to the appropriate service.
• To comply with, and share responsibility for ensuring the implementation of, BVSC policies and procedures and key legislation such as GDPR and Safeguarding.

We are recruiting for a Service Delivery Assistant based in our Reading centre to lead on the smooth running of our service, and create a welcoming atmosphere for all clients, volunteers and visitors. The Service Delivery Assistant will be the first point of contact a client will have with Smart Works. Therefore, we are looking for a friendly, organised and hard-working individual. The role would be based in Reading city centre, and there will be occasional evening and weekend work as the role holder may be asked to provide key events support. 

Smart Works Reading is part of Smart Works Charity, with Smart Works centres across the UK. There will therefore be some travel and frequent liaison with local centres across the UK and HQ in London, to support induction and training, as well as the day-to-day role. 

Duties and responsibilities

• Being the first point of contact for all clients, volunteers and visitors of the centre, in person, via email and on the phone. 
• Managing the central inbox, responding to clients, referral partners, volunteers, donors and potential supporters.
• Day to day coordination of the Smart Works service, including booking all client appointments, answering the phone and all related service administration.

Location: 2wish currently offers a form of hybrid working and this will continue for the foreseeable future. This post is predominantly home based, with regular travel across the area you reside in and some travel to our Head Office in South Wales

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Work outside office hours may sometimes be necessary and will be compensated for by time off in lieu.

2wish exists to provide support to anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under.

Aims:

• Ensure every Emergency Department and Critical Care unit has a suitable bereavement suite
• Ensure that bereavement boxes are available at each of these hospitals
• Ensure that immediate bereavement support is available for all affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide a professional counselling service and other therapies for those affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support to individuals who witness the sudden death of a child or young person
• Provide support and training to professionals from any sector who may be affected by the sudden death of a child or young person
• To advocate and campaign on behalf of suddenly bereaved families

Context of role:

2wish supports anyone affected by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young person aged 25 and under. We are a largely self-funded charity providing support across Wales and more recently, in the bordering counties with England. Our support team works very closely with our fundraising team to increase income but also to raise awareness of the work of 2wish.

This is a unique opportunity for two individuals to raise awareness of the charity, building it’s profile and engaging communities across the English counties that border Wales. It will involve helping to organise fundraising events, working with volunteers and encouraging community fundraising opportunities.

Main duties:

• To help raise awareness of 2wish and the work we do in England
• To work alongside the support team in England, Phase I and to build on the reputation of 2wish
• Research, approach and engage community groups and local supporters using mechanisms for engaging their support to develop additional sources of income
• To liaise with the public in England, Phase I who are fundraising for 2wish
• To support the delivery of community and corporate events, and monitor the income raised
• To attend community and networking events where necessary

The role:

The purpose of this role is to ensure effective, efficient and accurate day-to-day financial management and financial controls for the Fidelity UK and international Foundations, including leading on management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning and delivering the annual reports and accounts for all four Foundations. The post holder will prepare all finance papers for Board and Finance and Investment Subcommittee meetings and will support the oversight of the Foundations’ investment portfolios. This role will also be responsible for managing all payments made by the Foundations, in addition to ensuring risk and compliance guidelines are adhered to at all times.

The person

The successful applicant will have a detailed knowledge of accounting principles, ideally with experience of the charitable sector, and a strong track record of day-to-day financial management in a comparable role. You will have strong analytical skills and be able to demonstrate both operational and strategic thinking. You will have a proficiency in accounting (with a relevant finance qualification) and will be able to evidence the successful production of annual accounts and monthly reporting, ensuring monitoring against budgets. Additionally, you will have strong analytical and reporting skills, exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication and presentation skills, and hands-on experience of explaining complex financial information clearly and concisely. Finally, you will have a high degree of humility and a collaborative style and will be able to pro-actively manage a diverse workload on your own initiative.

This is a demanding, yet hugely fulfilling new post in which the post holder will have overall responsibilty for the management and day to day operations of our new mobile support van. A large proportion of the post holder's time will be spent taking the van along with a team of volunteers on outreach to where there are survivors of sex trafficking. Our immediate priority area is Bedford. This will involve driving to sites of sexual exploitation and trafficking, such as the streets, properties used as brothels, airports and other places, as necessary. The post holder will lead outreach sessions supported by trained volunteers, in partnership with Bedfordshire Police and UK Border Force. The post holder will be a part of Azalea's frontline team (we call this Encompass) and will work with them to offer survivors of sex trafficking crisis intervention and ongoing support. The nature of this form of outreach will require the post holder to work flexible and unsociable hours (37.5 hours per week), however Azalea offers a generous annual leave allowance. Since this is a new role, the post holder will be required to use their initiative and draw on the knowledge and experience of the team to develop a full-time operational plan for the support van.

About the Service

The Refuge Service provide emergency accommodation to women and children fleeing domestic abuse and sexual violence. Refuge Case workers provide emotional and practical support this can include housing support, legal options, reporting to the police, help around child contact, benefits, financial advice and accessing therapeutic support services.

About the Role

You will provide advice and support to women who have experienced domestic abuse in a refuge setting working across two sites.  You will carry out risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and carry out key work with women survivors. You should have a minimum of two years’ experience of working with this or a similar client group. An in depth understanding of the needs of women and children from a diverse background is essential.

About You

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence.

You will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of the client group, and the ability to work with women to help them to understand their needs, risk assess, develop safety plan, and support them in linking with other agencies.  

You will have a working knowledge of the available legal remedies, housing, and welfare benefits, as well as experience of providing workshops.

In addition to case management, you will be required to undertake housing management responsibilities including health and safety and maintenance of the refuges.  You will have excellent administrative and time management skills.

Up to three months resettlement support is offered to  women and children leaving the refuge

The Amari Project is based in Enfield and provides 2nd stage Supported Accommodation to women who have been sexually exploited, trafficked or who have exited Prostitution. Women in this Project will also receive resettlement support and may remain within the Borough of Enfield or be moved out of borough as part of planned move on.

About the Role

The resettlement Floating Support Worker will provide resettlement support to residents moving out of the Amari Project and from Pan London refuges. You will provide fortnightly case work to residents in their move on accommodation.

You will provide holistic support including tenancy sustainment support and advocacy support to establish and maintain partnership working .You will be responsible for providing data and any statistical information for monitoring returns and in collating

About You

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse, trafficking and sexual exploitation. You will be required to have an awareness of the impacts of trauma on survivors of domestic abuse.
