About us

Who we are

The Ystalyfera Health & Wellbeing Centre (the HWB) has the aims of providing support and resources to the local community, in the development and maintenance of physical, mental and emotional health, and in the broader areas of well-being, including opportunities to socialize in a safe and non-commercial environment. We are independent of any political, religious or commercial association. We own excellent facilities and have a small team of enthusiastic staff and volunteers. We run health and fitness, sewing and knitting, meditation, cookery classes and events for all ages, plus a small gym. The Centre has a large hall, fully-fitted training kitchen, and meeting rooms. All areas of the building are disabled-accessible, and the kitchen includes cooking facilities for wheelchair users. New programmes in the planning stage include study skills sessions and after-school book clubs in conjunction with the local schools, tea dances and socializing opportunities for older residents, and in the next month or two we will also be opening a tiny cinema, which will offer a range of screenings aimed at different audiences: cartoons, classic matinees, foreign films and Welsh language films. Our target audience is the local community of the electoral ward of Ystalyfera and neighbours. Involvement in the HWB brings a wide variety of experiences, in a warm and friendly environment, committed to supporting our community, and have some fun at the same time.
