Fastlaners Employability Programme - Manchester

Overview

Are you 18 - 25 years old? Unemployed or looking for that dream job?
Fastlaners is a free eight day programme for 18-25 year olds who are looking to kick start their career.  The programme is designed to build confidence and knowledge, introduce participants to a range of potential employers and develop the skills needed to get that dream job.

In addition to the personal development opportunities, participants meet professionals from a variety of industries, receive mentoring for 3-6 months and participate in mock interviews. As well as full-time workshops, covering topics such as CV support, mock interviews, presentation skills and mock assessment centres. Fastlaners are also provided with opportunities to attend networking events and work on a one-to-one basis with a member of UpRising staff and a mentor, to identify and apply for potential opportunities, prepare for interviews and then ensure the first few months at work go smoothly.

In 2016, we delivered 120 workshops and were supported by 169 speakers or facilitators.  We took participants to 51 different workplaces across the country, including to Lloyds Bank, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, PwC, John Lewis, ITV, Mayer Brown, Thomson Reuters, and IBM.

As a result:

• 100% of participants said they were more confident
• 73% were working in less than six months
• 89% were either working or in training or volunteering in six months.

Course Dates
Week 1: Monday 27th March - Thursday 30th March 2017
Week 2: Monday 3rd April - Thursday 6th April 2017, followed by ongoing support for 3 - 6 months.

Location
Manchester: The workshops will be held at a range of venues in central Manchester.
