Free Disability Rights and Social Care Course

Our free training course is designed to teach you about disability rights, support brokerage and direct payments. Whether you are a disabled person looking for work or a non-disabled person looking to work with disabled people, we can give you a firm grounding in the key aspects involved in social care. Our course is also useful for any disabled individuals just looking to gain more knowledge about the care they receive.

Not only do we teach you about disability rights and social care, but we provide full training on how to perform the roles of a support broker. You will learn important professional skills such as negotiation, communication, organisation, research and financial management. A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded* and references provided after the course.

A unique feature of our course is the three month placement (which will be one day a week or more) at the end of the four training sessions. Here you will get the chance to further develop your skills and gain more experience and knowledge. The placement will involve assisting a support planning or support brokerage program at CHOICE IN HACKNEY or another organisation of your choice*.

The four six hour training sessions will be held all on the following dates:

Session 1: Monday 13th March 2017

Session 2: Wednesday 15th March 2017

Session 3: Monday 20th March 2017

Session 4: Monday 3rd April 2017

This peer led project is run by disabled trainers for disabled people. The venue we have chosen is fully accessible, and we are happy to discuss further access needs.

*The Certificate of Achievement will be awarded upon completion of the placement.
