Overview

SUMMARY - Do you want to improve your reports or other business writing? Need help with structure or style, succinctness or impact? On this this one-day course you will learn how to write with greater ease and confidence, and get ideas for making text engaging and memorable – so you can achieve your business goals.

IN DEATIL - Writing is not easy. Especially in the business world, where subjects can be technical, the traditional structure and style is formal, time is against you, and jargon and clichés abound. But it doesn't have to be that way. On this one-day course we help make your writing jobs easier, and enable you to write with greater confidence, ideas and impact.

After discussing the writing challenges you face, we share some of the practical reasons (not grammar, punctuation or spelling etc.) where business writing can go astray, and give suggestions for how to avoid them. Then we look at examples of good business writing, exploring why they are effective and what techniques you can use in your writing.

In the session on report writing, we explore the best ways to structure your work and persuade readers. We also run through a simple stepped process to make what can be an arduous task considerably easier, and help you achieve your report writing goals.

You can practice some of the course's ideas in the writing session after lunch, either working on something you have brought OR the tutor's exercise. And before you leave we share some handy tools to support and finish off your texts.
