Overview

Course content:

Managing Disclosures is comprised of 2 parts. The program teaches the skills needed to support a survivor disclosing an act of sexual abuse or violence against them and guiding them to obtaining help from relevant specialists.

Part 1

  • Introduction to the session, program, ourselves and sexual violence.
  • Principals of support
  • What is sexual violence and what does it cover.
  • Prevalence
  • Rape myths

Break

Part 2

  • PTSD and the effects of sexual violence on survivors
  • Barriers to disclosure
  • 4 step model of support.
  • Looking after yourselves.

This course is taught over two hours and is an engaging, interactive learning experience using group work and audio-visuals

No previous experience or training is necessary. Participants will be asked to self-reflect. There is no expectation on participants to share personal experiences.
