ZSL Zoo Academy Course (Whipsnade Zoo)

Overview:

ZSL Zoo Academy is an eight-day course which includes study sessions on different exotic species and more than twenty hours practical experience. Our exciting animal based course is designed for 15-17 year olds who wish to become vets, vet nurses, zoo keepers or complete other animal related studies.

These courses are planned to enable young people to gain practical experience in a zoological collection. Supported by the education and keeping staff, students will complete an evidence portfolio of their work. On completion of the course to a satisfactory level students will receive a certificate and reference statement. Students will be able to keep their portfolios as evidence of their time at ZSL London Zoo or ZSL Whipsnade Zoo and hopefully use them at future university or college interviews and to aid their career with animals.

WE ONLY HAVE ZOO ACADEMY PLACES AT WHIPSNADE ZOO AVAILBLE FOR 2017. PLACES AT LONDON ZOO ARE NOW FULL.

Course Dates are as follows:

• 14th Jan – 18th March 2017 (Saturdays only; half term on 11th and 18th Feb)
• 29th April – 1st July 2017 (Saturdays only; half term on 27th May and 3rd June)
• 17th – 26th July 2017 (weekdays only)
• 31st July – 9th August 2017 (weekdays only)
• 14th – 23rd August 2017 (weekdays only)
• 23rd September – 25th November 2017 (Saturdays only; half term 21st and 28th Oct)

Person Specification:

ZSL Zoo Academy (Whipsnade) Course is only available for individuals aged 15 - 17

We are looking for students who are keen to learn from the experience, enthusiastic and ready to get involved! Try and make this come across in your application.

Course cost £575 per student. This must be paid in full to secure your place on one of the courses.

N.B: Places are not given on a first come, first served basis so we use the online application forms to select participants. Therefore, please use this form as an opportunity to let us know why you would make an excellent Zoo Academy student. We will go through all of the applications after the closing date and get back to you before the end of December 2016.
