Job description

Your chance to make the world of work more accepting of lesbian, gay, bi and trans people

The Equal Rights Coalition (ERC) comprises 42 countries dedicated to the protection of the rights of LGBTI persons globally. This past June, the United Kingdom and Argentina became State Co-Chairs, for a two-year term.

Over the past decade, civil society has developed a coordinated network of organisations actively participating in creating and supporting the agenda for this Coalition. In furtherance of ensuring global participation, civil society has created a structure and accountable network of non-governmental participants with elected delegates who meet regularly to develop priorities for the ERC process and aim to inform its content and progression.

The Equal Rights Coalition Officer (ERC Officer) provides administrative and communications support to a wide range of civil society organisations from around the globe involved in the ERC process. In particular, the post holder will support these organisations’ engagement in the preparatory stages of the ERC Global Conference taking place in London at the end of May 2020. This event is of great significance to hundreds of LGBTI civil society organisations focussed on securing the human rights and dignity of LGBTI people. Your role is key to ensuring that global LGBTI civil society is able to actively engage in the event’s preparatory phase, in particular the development of its agenda and content. There are also a number of thematically based working groups that will need your support to ensure effective communication within and between them.

This will initially be a fixed term contract but with potential for renewal. You will be based at the offices of Stonewall and be part of the Global team that works in close collaboration with the member organisations of the UK Alliance for Global Equality. Your core relationships will be with the ERC Civil Society Co-Chairs including Kaleidoscope Trust and Stonewall in London and with La Comunidad Homosexual Argentina in Buenos Aires.

We welcome applications from everyone and actively seek a diverse range of applicants, so if you have the right mix of skills and experience and a passion for LGBT equality, we want to hear from you. Please complete and return the application and recruitment analysis form by 9am Wednesday 20th November 2019. Interviews will follow on Thursday 28th November 2019.
