We are seeking a compassionate, experienced and motivated HIV Peer Support Advice Worker to provide onsite social welfare advice and support to people living with HIV across South London hospital HIV services. This 28-hour per week fixed-term role will be based in a clinical settings on a rota basis and focus on supporting people who are newly diagnosed through Emergency Department opt-out testing, those returning to HIV care, and people who may need additional help to engage with treatment and manage the wider factors affecting their health and wellbeing.
Working closely with HIV clinic teams, peer support colleagues, internal advice services and external partners, the postholder will provide advice on welfare benefits, housing and related support needs, make appropriate referrals and signposting, and help ensure people living with HIV feel informed, empowered and able to live well.

In this role you will be working to research and maximise the income that is received from our high-value fundraising collaborating with corporate partners and donors reflecting strong interpersonal skills throughout.
You will proactively be identifying opportunities to secure income for Terrence Higgins Trust whilst supporting the coordination of key events within the charity such as our Auction and Gala.
You will also lead on maintaining our high-value database, ensuring consistent and accurate engagement is recorded.

Using your own lived experience in a thoughtful and boundaried way, you will support people to understand their diagnosis, navigate HIV care, and identify what matters most to them. You will work alongside each person to understand their needs, develop a support plan, and help them access the right practical, emotional and specialist support.
You will work closely with HIV clinic teams, peer support colleagues, advice and advocacy services, and other partners to make sure people living with HIV receive timely, inclusive and culturally competent support that helps them feel informed, empowered and able to live well.
