About us
Who we are
At 1175 (Prenton) Squadron and across the wider RAFAC, we support young people across the Wirral and Merseysideoffering them life-changing experiences and a positive space to grow. Our squadron is run entirely by committed volunteers who lead activities, mentor cadets, and help organise events, camps, and flying opportunities. We’re proud to be part of a 45,000-strong UK-wide organisation that’s preparing the next generation for life – and having a lot of fun along the way.
Our culture and values
At 1175 (Prenton) Squadron, and throughout the RAF Air Cadets, we believe in respect, responsibility, and opportunity for all. We foster a positive, inclusive environment where young people and volunteers are encouraged to challenge themselves, support one another, and grow into confident, capable individuals.
We lead by example – promoting teamwork, resilience, and leadership through adventure, aviation, and service. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, and what unites us is a shared commitment to developing young people, contributing to our local community, and upholding the proud standards of the RAFAC.
We value commitment, but we also understand life is busy – we’re flexible, welcoming, and supportive. Whether you can give a few hours or take on a bigger role, you’ll be part of a passionate, purpose-driven team making a real impact.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
The RAF Air Cadets is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment for all. We do not tolerate bullying, discrimination, or harassment in any form, and we are dedicated to treating every volunteer and cadet fairly and with respect. Our approach aligns with the Ministry of Defence’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) policy, ensuring that all individuals – regardless of background, identity, or protected characteristics – are supported and valued.
