Who we are

2makeit uses creative programmes such as art, music, writing and drama coupled with individual and group mentoring to support the rehabilitation of offenders who are still serving their sentence and those who have been released. This builds trust, confidence, teaches collaboration and encourages positive thinking to reduce the risk of reoffending.

A crucial part of our work is that it continues in the community by offering through-the-gate support and programmes in partnership with other charities, the probation service and NHS to help individuals to re-build their lives post-release. Inside or outside prison performing in front of an audience or seeing work in exhibitions and being recognised as a musician, artist or writer rather than 'an offender' can change a life.

To mark 2makeit’s impact in Kent, we were awarded the High Sheriff of Kent Award for 2026. The award is to “recognise the remarkable work of your charity” and for a charity that has “gone above and beyond in their service to the community of Kent and Medway.”
