About us
Who we are
Afrocats is a Manchester-based charity that works with women and children from the global majority who face exclusion due to immigration status, economic inequality, age, cultural isolation, and barriers to education. These challenges can limit access to opportunities and a sense of belonging within wider society.
Our culture and values
We envision a society where people from global majority backgrounds feel welcomed, included, and empowered to succeed. Our mission is to create opportunities, build confidence, and raise aspirations among young people and women from the global majority through creative engagement that improves life chances.
This work is guided by strong values: being ethical and inclusive by putting people first and supporting their growth and integration, being supportive by standing alongside individuals through challenges and fostering a sense of belonging; and being collaborative by working closely with communities to ensure their voices shape and inform everything we do.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Afrocats believes in the value of Equality and Diversity and of the development of all staff having regard to their abilities and aspirations.
Our mission will be achieved through building and sustaining a culture which promotes equality and the right of all individuals to be treated with dignity and respect, valuing diversity and celebrating the talents of the people we support and our colleagues. Any form of discrimination or prejudice will not be tolerated.
