About us
Who we are
Age UK Wigan Borough provides high quality services designed to offer support to older people across the Borough. In doing this, we will help older people live their lives as they would choose.
We are the largest organisation working with older people in Wigan Borough and last year, we supported over 5,000 individual older people through providing a range of services, which include information, advice and advocacy; practical support services (handyperson and home help) and activities in the community.
Our culture and values
Our PRIDE values underline the way that we work:
Person - Centred - The needs of older people are at the forefront of what we do
Respectful - We treat older people with the respect that they are due and recognise the contribution they have made in society.
Innovative - If we are faced with a difficult problem, we won't give up.
Dynamic - Our organisation is constantly changing and we are quick to adapt to external pressures.
Empowering - We aim to support older people to become stronger, more confident and in control of their lives.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Age UK Wigan Borough is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We ensure that we are an inclusive organisation where diversity is respected, and valued. We are committed to compliance with equalities legislation and best practice guidelines. We recognise that certain groups are currently under-represented in our organisation. These include males and people from minority backgrounds and particularly encourage applications from these groups.
We aim to proactively tackle discrimination to ensure that staff, volunteers and customers are not directly or indirected discriminated. We are dedicated to making meaningful changes to ensure that everyone feels valued and included.
