About us
Who we are
This is an effort to set up a UK-registered charity, with the purpose of fundraising to establish a new mosque and academic education centre in the UK. This building would serve both as a regular mosque, offering 5 times daily prayers, but also as a tutoring / support centre for UK students, teaching lessons on a variety of academic subjects. This project is still in very early planning phases.
The Founder (Arda Kara):
● Planning to serve as the Imam and lead prayers based on Hanafi practice
● Will teach Mathematics and oversee the initial academic programs for secondary-level (GCSE/O-Level and A-Level) students, with plans to expand to other subjects over time
● Responsible for project vision, coordination, and community engagement during the early phases
● Will collaborate closely with trustees, but will not hold a trustee position to maintain governance integrity
Our culture and values
The Al-Majd project is closely linked to traditional Sunni Islam (4 madhhabs, 3 schools of Aqidah, the practice of Tasawwuf (Sufism)). Thus, it is expected that, other than exceptional scenarios decided on by the recruiters, all volunteers (and later, all employees) of Al-Majd will be Sunni Muslims.
After opening, Al-Majd will recruit employees from a range of different academic and religious areas of expertise, in order to provide the community with a variety of different courses and fulfilling education opportunities.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Any and all people will be welcome at Al-Majd once it opens it doors. Students and visitors will not be discriminated against, regardless of any personal matters. In this way, Al-Majd will serve as a centre for understanding and building strong community relations.
Volunteers, and later employees, at Al-Majd will constitute both men and women, with no distinction made based on this during the recruitment processes.
