About us
Who we are
Ashinaga
Ashinaga provides financial support and emotional care to young people around the world who have lost either one or both parents. With a history of more than 55 years, our support has enabled more than 110,000 orphaned students to gain access to higher education.
From 2002, we expanded our activities internationally, with our first office abroad in Uganda. Since then, we have established new offices in Senegal, the US, Brazil, the UK, and France to support the Ashinaga Africa Initiative.
Our Mission
Ashinaga Provides Education and Support for Orphaned Students Worldwide. This support enables Scholars to overcome the obstacles faced in their lives, to advance in their education, and to become agents of social change.
Ashinaga Africa Initiative
The Ashinaga Africa Initiative (AAI) is an international leadership programme that cultivates the next generation of leaders to contribute to the development of sub-Saharan Africa.
AAI Scholars have lost one or both parents and are committed to returning to sub-Saharan Africa to initiate change, innovation, and development. The AAI provides financial support for international university degrees, along with leadership training and support to support Scholars in their development as compassionate change-makers.
Ashinaga UK
There are four main components of our work at Ashinaga UK: student support, fundraising and external relations, including university relations, and administration. Our student support programme provides leadership development support for Ashinaga Scholars studying in the UK, including supporting personal, professional, and academic self-development. We work closely with universities and other organisations to establish a wider network of academic, financial, and career development support for our scholars, as well as activities to ensure the financial sustainability of our work.
