About us
Who we are
Bethlehem Care & Hospice Trust (BCHT) is a UK-registered charity supporting the development of specialist palliative and hospice care in Palestine.
In August 2023, the service we support became the first licensed palliative care service in Palestine. Since then, its specialist nursing team has cared for more than 350 patients and their families and delivered more than 5,000 home visits across Bethlehem Governorate.
Our aim is simple: to ensure that people facing life-limiting illness can receive compassionate, professional care with dignity, ideally in their own homes and surrounded by their families.
BCHT is a small, ambitious charity with strong relationships in Palestine. Having established a service that is already making a significant difference, our priority is now to secure its long-term sustainability and support its future development.
Our culture and values
BCHT is inspired by Christian values of compassion, dignity and service. These values shape both the care we support in Palestine and the way we work as an organisation.
We are a small charity and value personal relationships, collaboration, integrity and openness. Our Trustees are actively involved in the charity and work closely with our team and partners in Palestine. We aim to combine the commitment and personal approach of a small organisation with high professional standards and good governance.
We want people working with BCHT to have the freedom to use their expertise, contribute ideas and help shape our development. Above all, we share a commitment to improving the lives of people facing serious illness and supporting their families.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
BCHT is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and to creating an environment in which everyone is treated with dignity, fairness and respect.
We welcome applications from suitably qualified people from all backgrounds and communities and make employment decisions on merit and the requirements of the role. We seek to ensure that our recruitment and employment practices provide equality of opportunity and are free from unlawful discrimination.
Our work is inspired by Christian values, and we ask our employees to be sympathetic to the values and mission of the charity. The palliative care service supported by BCHT is provided to people in Palestine regardless of faith, ethnicity, background or ability to pay.
