About us
Who we are
Beyond Equality is a UK charity that aims to improve men and boys’ wellbeing, contribute to eliminating gender-based violence (GBV), and create safer, more inclusive and more equitable communities.
Our expertise is in preventative education with men and boys: we work with men and boys before problems arise, or as early as possible when a problem has begun to surface. We achieve our aims by shifting individual men’s attitudes, and therefore their behaviours. Through this work, we contribute to systems change by shifting cultural norms around interpersonal violence.
Our main pathway for change is transformative group workshops that take place in organisations and settings that men and boys belong to. We have worked with more than 60,000 people in schools and colleges, universities, community groups, workplaces and pro sports environments.
Our culture and values
Beyond Equality takes a positive and compassionate approach to working with men and boys, helping each person improve their wellbeing as well as finding their role in building a safer and more equitable future for others.
We are an intersectional feminist organisation. We realise change can require direct challenge to some engrained power structures and biases. We know that this challenge can be sensitive and destabilising, and is best handled with compassion and care.
We take the same approach to our internal team dynamics, placing a high priority on mutual respect and support.
We are evidence based, drawing upon best practice, collaborating with leading researchers from several fields, and always working to ensure our practices are as impactful as possible.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Beyond Equality is committed to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive organisation that is guided by intersectional perspectives based on the wide variety of lived experiences in the UK.
The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and our participants, and for each employee & volunteer to feel respected and able to give their best. We strive for this at every level, from Trustees and paid staff to consultants and volunteers.
The organisation - in providing services - is also committed against unlawful discrimination of customers or the public.
