About us
Who we are
At Blossom, our mission is to empower LGBTQIA+ young adults and engage wider society to address the systemic barriers of discrimination, poverty, and social disadvantage faced by young queer people for the broader public benefit. We equip them with the tools, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. Through education, advocacy, and community programmes, we challenge inequality and foster a more inclusive society where every young person can succeed and live with dignity.
Our culture and values
We envision a world where LGBTQIA+ young adults live free from discrimination, poverty, and social disadvantage, thriving in inclusive communities where their potential is recognised, celebrated, and their rights are fully realised. Our core values are:
- Inclusion - We value inclusion as we are kind-hearted and respectful of others. We know the people we work with are on learning journeys and continue to empower them.
- Stength - We value strength as we are proud of who we are. We understand & celebrate the strength that it takes to be an authentic individual.
- Action - We value action as we are change-makers and believe in taking action for a stronger community.
- Community - We value community as we are powerful when acting as one strong community. We operate with each other's interests and needs in mind.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We are proud that our staff, board, and volunteer team includes and over represented people from multiple marginalised communities and we’re committed to ensuring people from all backgrounds have equal chance at opportunities within Blossom. When we recruit, we look for potential, lived experience, and transferable skills. Each stage of our process is reviewed by a panel who score against our person specification to ensure everyone is held to the same criteria. We deliberately do not factor in things like where you studied or where you grew up, recognising that access to particular institutions is often shaped by socioeconomic background rather than talent or capability. We also encourage all candidates to apply using the name that feels most authentic to them; whether that’s a gender-affirming name or names from a wide range of cultural or linguistic backgrounds.
We want this process to be fair, inclusive, and accessible for everyone. Because of this, those who apply for the role and are invited to join us for the discussion stage will be provided with a comprehensive pack providing you with clear information about the types of questions we’ll be asking, what we’re assessing for and ways to make sure you put your best foot forwards throughout the process - this allows everyone a fair chance to prepare in a way that works for them.
We’ve tried to make the recruitment process as accessible as possible, but, if you have any access needs or adjustments that would support you to apply or interview, simply let us know.
