About us

Who we are

Bournemouth Blind Society offers  Support Services and Social Groups  both at its centre in Moordown and out in the community to enable blind and partially sighted people to lead active and independent lives.

Our  Sight and Hearing Resource Centre,  based in Moordown, is open to anyone for demonstrations of equipment designed to help those with either sight or hearing loss.

The Society is proud of its new  Assistive Technology Suite,  where users can learn to operate computers, tablets or mobile phones through one to one tuition.

Founded in 1911, Bournemouth Blind Society is the oldest established independent charity in Bournemouth. Formerly known as both Bournemouth Blind Aid Society and BSVI (Bournemouth Society for the Visually Impaired), the charity was formed following the launch of a nationwide campaign by the National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) to raise funds.

Our Vision is that all people living in the BCP area having a sight and/or hearing loss receive the support they need.
