About us

Who we are

Brighton and Hove Amateur Boxing Club is a charity run, England Boxing affiliated community boxing gym based on Kings Esplanade in Hove. We provide a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where people of all ages and abilities can learn, grow and thrive through the discipline of boxing.

Our club is open to everyone, from complete beginners to competitive amateur boxers. We also deliver specialist sessions for children, women, people with disabilities and those who want to train for fitness and wellbeing. Every session is coached by qualified and experienced staff who understand the value of structure, motivation and individual care.

We are committed to creating champions in life, not just in the ring. That means using boxing to support mental and physical health, improve focus and confidence, and strengthen community relationships. As a registered charity, our work extends beyond sport. We partner with local schools, charities, care providers and youth services to provide outreach programmes that reduce social exclusion, challenge inequality and inspire personal development.

Support and Services We Provide

  • Boxing classes for all levels, from Little Champs and junior development to senior amateur and fitness sessions
  • Female only and inclusive classes tailored for comfort, confidence and accessibility

  • Adaptive boxing sessions for people with physical, learning or sensory disabilities

  • Outreach programmes in schools and local services, including mentoring and behavioural support

  • Wellbeing and lifestyle support through structured training, community events and positive role models

  • Volunteer and coaching pathways that empower members to grow within the club and give back to others

We are proud to be a welcoming space where everyone can belong, build confidence and discover their strength through boxing.

Our staff and volunteers receive regular training on unconscious bias, inclusive communication, safeguarding and equality legislation to support inclusive behaviours and decision making.

Accessible Environment
We strive to make our gym physically and socially accessible to all, including adaptive boxing sessions and tailored support for people with disabilities or additional needs.

Zero Tolerance for Discrimination
We have clear procedures to report and address any form of discrimination or inequality. We investigate concerns promptly and take appropriate action in line with our safeguarding and disciplinary policies.
