About us
Who we are
Camden People First (CPF) originated in 1984 as a grassroots group when our founder returned from an International People First Conference in Canada. Encouraged by the event, they decided to start a speaking-up group with four adults with learning difficulties in the London Borough of Camden. Since then, CPF has grown into a user led self-advocacy organisation, becoming a company in 2005 and a registered charity in 2007. CPF strives to create a society where everyone, regardless of their abilities, has equal opportunities and voice; our initiatives focus on advocacy, skill development and confidence building, safeguarding (Hate and Mate crime), community engagement and integration, accessible communication (Easy Read service), and campaigning as experts by experience with nearly all our trustees being disabled their entire lives. We also like to have fun and provide social activities and events for our members like discos, barbeques, day trips and parties, as well as hosting a drop-in space at our accessible premises in Mornington Crescent.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Camden People First is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of race, gender, disability, or other protected status.
Join us in making a difference and empowering individuals with learning disabilities to advocate for themselves and achieve their full potential.
