About us
Who we are
Caring For Life is a Christian Charity that supports the most vulnerable in society by following the teachings of Jesus and providing life long care, when needed, to all those entrusted ot its' care.
Based at Crag House Farm, Cookridge Leeds, the chairty is able to offer 15 different projects from Agriculture to Design & Media to Car Mechanics and everything imbetween.
The foundations upon which Caring For Life is built, are the very clear and explicit teachings of Jesus Christ Himself as revealed in the pages of the New Testament.
Caring For Life is a registered Christian charity (registration no. 1174982.) with the aim of sharing the love of Jesus with homeless or vulnerable people by providing accommodation, ongoing support, love and friendship, and when necessary, providing that care 'for life'! Such care enables people to develop dignity and self-respect. Our motto is simple, "Sharing the Love of Jesus."
We believe that all men and women are made in the image of God, and that leads us to treat people with dignity and respect. Most of those we support have been afforded little respect in the past. Our principles of care spring from the example of Jesus Christ and the way He reached out to those who needed help.
Jesus brought much criticism on Himself because He cared for people whom society rejected. We see very clearly the way in which He loved the needy and vulnerable, e.g. Matthew 9:36: "When he saw huge crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harrassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd".
Words of Jesus which have been an inspiration for our work can be found in Matthew 25:34-36, 40. We are clearly given a commission to care for those in need:
"Then the King will say to those on his right,'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me..'
Whilst homelessness is often the problem that brings a person to us, we usually find this is just the tip of the iceberg, and a whole range of other problems lie beneath the surface. A large proportion have experienced physical or sexual abuse, some have learning difficulties, others a psychiatric disorder or psychological problems, and some have been involved in offending or drug abuse. We seek to address all these issues as we share the love of Jesus in the most practical of ways. As we do so, many ask questions about the Christ who motivates our team of staff and volunteers. Many have to come to know the Lord Jesus Christ for themselves and have found in Him true peace and the ultimate answer to their problems.

Our culture and values
Christian Doctrine Requirements
Every staff member will be expected to explain their faith at times and the nature and purpose for Caring For Life’s ministry with those in our care, supporters, or visitors to Caring For Life.
Caring For Life is supported by many Christian Churches and individuals from across the UK and the USA. The majority are Evangelical/Baptist Churches who we have partnered with us.
The supporters of Caring For Life hold us accountable to uphold the truth of the gospel and the word of God, the bible, and without their support, prayers, and agreement we would not be here.
We are also affiliated with Affinity and the Grace Baptist Association, and we ascribe to both their statements of faith.
Our ultimate example in sharing the Love of Jesus is Jesus Christ himself. He is the Son of God and Saviour of the world. (Col 1 v 15, Col 2 v 9, 2 Cor 4 v 6)
We believe the bible to be the inspired and infallible word of God, (2 Tim 3 v 16) therefore, it is the final authority on all matters regarding faith and practice, and this includes the grounds and suitability of any person wanting to serve the Lord in this ministry.
We believe God’s word does not change, no matter what generation we live in, nor is anything to be added or taken from it. (Deut 4 v 2) God’s word is totally relevant to us all and speaks truth to every situation.
He determines and commands how we are to live Godly and holy lives, He teaches us about relationships, sin, identity, mercy, grace etc. (Prov 28 v 13, Isaiah 55 v 6-7, Luke 5 v 31-32, Acts 8 v 22, James 5 v 19-20)
