About us
Who we are
We’re Centre for Mental Health.
We take the lead in challenging policies, systems and society, so that everyone can have better mental health.
We do this by building research evidence to create fairer mental health policy.
Poverty, injustice and discrimination put some people at a much higher risk of poor mental health – but less likely to receive the right support.
By developing mental health research, economic analysis and policy ideas, we’re equipping services and decision makers to meet people’s needs and reduce mental health inequalities.
Our work is driving forward sustainable policy change, to pursue equality, social justice and good mental health for all.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Centre for Mental Health is committed to taking an anti-racist approach in every aspect of our work. Since 2020, a group of staff has been meeting to discuss what needs to be done in our own organisation to tackle racism. We set out an initial anti-racism statement and a workplan outlining our intentions to tackle racism at both a structural and individual level.
We drive action for better mental health for all, and promote equity in the delivery of our work, upholding our equality, diversity and inclusion policies and focussing research on specific inequalities such as the opportunities for improving the mental health of minoritised groups and the physical health of people with severe mental illness.
