About us
Who we are
With its 12,000 parishes and 16,000 buildings the Church of England is a Christian presence in every community and plays a vital role in the life of the nation. Its network of parishes covers the country, bringing a vital Christian dimension and strengthening community life in numerous urban, suburban and rural settings. From state occasions to rural engagement, cathedrals to food banks, education to public affairs, the Church touches all aspects of life through the work of its lay and ordained leaders and volunteers. The National Church Institutions (NCIs) is the collective name given to the following bodies: The Archbishops’ Council; Bishopthorpe Palace; The Church Commissioners; Church of England Central Services; The Church of England Pensions’ Board; Lambeth Palace; the National Society for Promoting Religious Education; and Trustees of the Lambeth Palace Library.
Our culture and values
We know that how we work with our colleagues and stakeholders has a huge impact on what we can get done to support the mission and ministries of the Church of England, our sense of belonging, and our wellbeing. It isn’t just what we do that matters, but also how we do it - together:
- Strive for Excellence
- Show Compassion
- Respect Others
- Collaborate
- Act with Integrity
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We believe our commitment to belonging and inclusion fuels our progress and drives us forward. The NCIs are a safe, inclusive workplace for people of all backgrounds and walks of life. We welcome applications from people of all faiths and of no faith. We want to encourage applications from a diverse group of people who share our values. Even if you have never thought about working for us before, if you have the skills and experience we're looking for then we would like to hear from you.
