About us

Who we are

About Classics for All

Classics for All is a UK-wide charity dedicated to increasing access to classical subjects - Latin, Ancient Greek, classical civilisation, and ancient history - in state schools. We believe that every young person, regardless of background, should have the opportunity to explore the ancient world and benefit from the rich cultural, linguistic, and historical knowledge it offers.

Our Support and Services

We work in partnership with schools, teachers, universities, and regional networks to embed Classics sustainably into the curriculum. Our support includes:

  • Free training and mentoring for teachers to deliver classical subjects confidently.
  • Curriculum development advice tailored to each school’s context and needs.
  • Access to teaching resources and schemes of work for Latin, Greek, ancient history and classical civilisation.
  • Small grants and funding to help schools launch or expand classics provision.
  • Regional networks and partnerships that foster collaboration and peer support.
  • Research and advocacy to promote the value of classics in education and address barriers to access.

Since 2010, we’ve supported over 1,300 schools and reached more than 100,000 pupils. Whether you're a teacher, school leader, or education stakeholder, we’re here to help bring the ancient world to life in your classroom.

Our culture and values

At Classics for All, we believe that classical subjects should be accessible to all young people, regardless of their background or school type. We are committed to educational equity and the transformative power of Classics to enrich literacy, cultural understanding, and critical thinking.

Our work is guided by the following principles:

  • Equity and Inclusion: We prioritise support for schools in areas of socio-economic disadvantage and those with limited access to classical subjects.
  • Collaboration: We work in partnership with teachers, schools, universities, and regional networks to build sustainable classics provision.
  • Empowerment through Education: We equip teachers with the skills, confidence, and resources to deliver high-quality classics teaching.
  • Evidence-Informed Practice: We use research and evaluation to inform our strategy, measure impact, and continuously improve our support.
  • Sustainability: We aim to embed classics long-term in schools by supporting curriculum integration and building local capacity.

We are a responsive, supportive, and values-driven organisation, working to ensure that the study of the ancient world is a vibrant and inclusive part of the UK education landscape.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

As a social mobility charity, being inclusive is a fundamental value of Classics for All. We welcome applications from all eligible people and are particularly keen to receive applications from those who are from communities that are less represented within the Classics community, such as those from minoritised ethnic backgrounds and those with disabilities.

It does not matter if Classics was offered at your own school. You do not need to be a Classicist to join our team – there will be no Latin tests!
