About us
Who we are
The Coln Restoration Group comprises over 25 Donors who live on or close to the Coln and whose objective is to campaign to restore the Coln river, a major Upper Thames tributary, to the state it was in until it was overwhelmed and degraded in recent years by excessive sewerage storm overflow, sewage storm tank spill events and compromising groundwater abstraction. Over the last 18 months its predecessor organisation, the Upper Coln Restoartion Group, has worked successfully with third party advice to lobby Ofwat and Thames Water for a major £12.087 million upgrade to the Andoversford Sewage Treatment works in the 2027-2030 period. The role of the CRG will be to hold Tames Water to this commitment and to work with Thames and the regulatory agencies to address other overflow and abstraction issues at additional locations along the full length of the Coln. The CRG has also originated a water monitoring and testing volunteer group who are working along the full length of the river.

The Group works on the basis of tarnsparency, fairness and good goverenance and inter-reaction between members and advisers. Open discussion and exchanges of views on issues and problems are sought and encouraged at all times.
