About us

Who we are

Cool Earth backs people to protect the rainforest and fight the climate crisis. 

We exists because the world’s rainforests are critical to tackling the climate crisis, and the people best placed to protect them are those who live there. Indigenous peoples and local communities are the most effective rainforest stewards, already protecting more than half of the world's remaining intact forest. 

Despite the scale and effectiveness of their forest conservation, Indigenous peoples and local communities receive a tiny fraction of global climate finance and face growing threats to their land, rights, and livelihoods.

Cool Earth believes rainforest protection will only succeed if it is locally-led and safeguards the livelihoods and rights of the people who live on the frontlines of the climate crisis.
