Cornwall Rural Community Charity

Who we are

Cornwall Rural Community Charity (CRCC) is an independent charity, established in 1946, which aims to work with and strengthen communities throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and to support vulnerable groups and individuals within them.

CRCC offers a wide range of services, including the provision of advice to non-profit groups on funding, charitable status and project management.  It provides a village halls advisory service and co-ordinates community planning.  It works with the socially excluded, carers and health and wellbeing groups, and keeps a watching brief on rural services such as shops and post offices.

CRCC’s main office is in central Truro; it has a satellite office in St Dennis and in 2016 merged with Penwith Community Development Trust (PCDT) which is based in Penzance.  CRCC is part of a network of 38 RCCs across England, all sharing the aim of enhancing rural communities.  RCCs are represented at a national level by ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England).

Most of CRCC’s income is from government agencies, local authorities and grant making bodies.  It is registered as a charitable organisation ‘Cornwall Community Development Limited’ but trades as ‘CRCC’ or ‘Cornwall Rural Community Charity’.

CRCC’s mission is to enable Cornwall’s communities to be vibrant, sustainable and inclusive.

Sustainable – A community that is striving to be sustainable in terms of food, farming, energy, people, jobs, and homes.

Inclusive – A community that can fully participate in life through good health and the accessibility and affordability of services.
