About us
Who we are
The Deafness Resource Centre was established in 1928 as "St Helens & District Society for Deaf People", and changed its name in 2009. We aim to empower, support and enhance the quality of life of D/deaf people (Deaf, deafened, hard of hearing and Deafblind). We exist to: challenge inequalities; advocate best practice; and enable greater participation. Our vision is to create an environment in which D/deaf people have access to services and opportunities that facilitate informed choices and decisions, increased independence and respect. The Deafness Resource Centre embraces diversity. We actively pursue fair and equal access in our service delivery, employment and recruitment of staff and through work with external partners.
