About us
Who we are
Safeguarding Children Services in Coventry and Birmingham
Dudley Lodge is a UK registered charity and one of the leading Family Assessment Centres in England and Wales. At Dudley Lodge, our focus is to keep families together when it is safe and in the best interest of the child to do so. We assess all types of families from couples to single mothers and fathers of all ages and abilities.
Residential Assessments
We provide a range of Residential Assessments for families at both our Dudley Lodge and Bonner House Centres. We undertake the majority of our residential assessments within timescales between 4 - 12 weeks.
Hurdle
Hurdle works with Coventry and Warwickshire women and men who are at risk of, or who have already suffered, the removal of one or more children from their care.
This includes:
- parents who have recently lost custody of their child;
- families who have completed an assessment at Dudley Lodge and returned to the community with their child in their care;
- expectant mothers and fathers who are at risk of their baby being removed from their care at birth.
Our culture and values
Our Values:
- We believe that all children have the right to have their safety and welfare needs met.
- We believe that all adults have a responsibility to respond to concerns, worries, and doubts regarding the safety and wellbeing of children wherever they may be.
- We believe that it is people who make the difference in any enterprise, and to give of their best they must be treated with dignity and respect.
We are also fully committed to the values of Ofsted:
- Each parent and child are valued as an individual and has his or her wishes and feelings listened to and taken into account.
- Each parent has a fair assessment of their parenting skills and capacity, and is given individualised support, in line with their abilities, needs and background.
- Each child feels protected and safe, and benefits from effective parenting.
- Parents and children with disabilities and particularly complex needs have these fully recognised and taken into account.
- There is a genuine partnership between all those involved in residential family centres to deliver the best outcomes for parents and children, including the Government, local authorities, family courts and other statutory agencies, such as CAFCASS (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Services).
