Who we are
Dudley and West Midlands Zoological Society Ltd is a charitable company with shares wholly owned by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, structured as a charitable organisation, with a trading arm know as Dudley Zoo Services Ltd. The charity has been in existence since 1988 with the responsibility to run the zoological and historical site.
The objects of the Society are the conservation, care and exhibition of live animals and the advancement of the sciences of Zoology, agriculture, horticulture and botany, for the benefit and education of the public.
The society is governed by a board of directors and the management arrangement consists of a Zoo Director, along with a group of senior managers who administer the day to day running of Dudley Zoological Gardens.
Dudley Zoological Gardens is not only home to a large collection of endangered species; it is sited around an 11th century castle, houses the world’s largest collection of Tecton buildings, and is an important geological site. Through our education and conservation activities we aim to provide our visitors with an understanding and awareness of all these elements.

Getting closer to the World’s rarest animals and caring for the future of the planet by encouraging people to develop a sustainable and harmonious relationship with nature.
In doing so, Dudley Zoological Gardens shall provide for the recreation and education of the people, the conservation of wildlife, and the discovery of biological knowledge.

> Candidates should ideally possess skills related to zoology, business management or fundraising , but anyone demonstrating enthusiasm and commitment to conservation or animal welfare will be considered.
Any person wishing to be considered as a Zoo Director is invited to express their interest in writing , accompanied by a short personal statement giving their background and their reasons for interest to:
