About us
Who we are
Eastern Angles is a regionally focussed theatre company with a broad world view in our approach to creating work with community groups and artists in East Anglia.
Our productions are ambitious, dynamic and a good night out.
We aspire to be Radically Hospitable. We aim to put extraordinary effort and emphasis on making people feel welcome. We seek to remove barriers that prevent people from participating in the shared experience of arts, heritage and culture.
We are proud to be a Change Partner with Ramps on the Moon and are committed to embedding anti-ableism across our organisation.
We are pleased to be an active member of Future Arts Centres, an active network of UK arts centres.
We are proud and committed to rural community touring and to enhancing the engagement and infrastructure of culture in the East of England.
We have a passion for supporting children, young people and our intergenerational audience to achieve their creative potential and ensure access to high-quality cultural experiences are available in the places we live or where we go to school.
Our culture and values
Our mission principles...
Grow
- We believe in nurturing potential — not only in the artists and creatives we work with, but in the people and communities we serve. Growth means expanding horizons, unlocking stories, and giving space for new voices to emerge.
- Through our co-created community engagement programmes — from Ipswich to Peterborough — we work side-by-side with people who may never have thought of themselves as performers or writers, helping them find their voice and share their truth.
- Our After-School Club, which provides additional curriculum support to local primary school children, or the Eastern Angles Centre, here, we don’t just perform to audiences — we collaborate with them. Together, we explore local stories, histories, and their aspirations. Together, we grow.
Nourish
- Theatre creates empathy, connection, and dialogue. It helps us feel seen, heard, and valued. At Eastern Angles, we nourish communities by reflecting their unique identities — their traditions, industrial legacies, coastal cultures — on stage and through our engagement programmes at the Eastern Angles Centre.
- Our touring productions travel to places where professional theatre rarely reaches: village halls, community centres, and unexpected spaces across Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, and Essex.
- By telling regionally-rooted stories we nourish a sense of place, pride, and shared heritage.
Wonder
- Eastern Angles opens a door to the imagination and a space to dream. That spark of curiosity, that awe at seeing a story come alive — it’s not just entertainment, it’s vital to mental and emotional health. In an age of isolation and anxiety, wonder reconnects us to what is possible.
- Through our bold, inventive productions and innovative engagement programmes with communities in West Ipswich and across East Anglia, we aim to reawaken wonder for all ages.
