About us

Who we are

The Economic Fundamentals Initiative (EFI) is a US-based nonprofit organization committed to advancing economic and financial literacy in post-communist and transition countries. Through partnerships with universities, NGOs, and educators across 11 countries, we provide translated and locally adapted teaching materials, promote student engagement, and support academic and civic institutions. Our goal is to foster a generation of economically informed citizens capable of making sound personal decisions and contributing to open, market-based societies.

Our culture and values

EFI is a mission-driven organization built on collaboration, trust, and impact. We value intellectual curiosity, cultural sensitivity, and initiative. Our team is small and flexible, with a shared commitment to making complex ideas accessible and relevant to students across diverse contexts. We support open dialogue, lifelong learning, and pragmatic approaches to achieving meaningful, measurable change.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

EFI is committed to creating a working and learning environment that is inclusive, respectful, and free from discrimination. We welcome and value diversity of background, experience, and perspective across our team and our partner institutions. We actively seek to foster equal opportunities in recruitment, collaboration, and programming, and we work with institutions across a broad geographic and cultural range to reflect the pluralism that is central to our mission.
