About us
Who we are
The European Lung Foundation (ELF) was founded by the European Respiratory Society (ERS) to bring together patients and the public with respiratory professionals to positively influence lung health.
Our small, friendly and driven team is on a mission to reduce the burden of lung disease across Europe and beyond.
We are committed to ensuring that people affected by lung disease have their voice heard in medical research, influencing healthcare professionals to focus on what matters most to patients.
We aim to communicate the latest research to people outside of the respiratory field by producing lay summaries and guidelines. We also work with respiratory professionals and patients to produce factsheets on lung conditions and related topics in up to 29 languages, giving patients and the public access to reliable information at an international level.
Our growing international campaign Healthy Lungs for Life promotes the importance of lung health to the public and raises awareness of some of the key ways we can protect our lungs from lung disease.
By being part of the ELF team, you can expect varied work with great fulfilment, knowing that together our activities and projects are working towards improving the lives of people affected by lung disease and helping to reduce its burden.
