Who we are
Festival of Thrift champions creativity, community and coming together to inspire positive action. Rooted in the Tees Valley, we celebrate the region’s rich heritage while reimagining its future as a hub for thrifty and resourceful living. Working together with communities, artists and partners, we thrive to empower people to explore imaginative ways to live well while treading lightly on the planet.
We do this year-round from our community hub in Stockton called The Institute of Thrifty Ideas, which hosts workshops, support for freelancers and community gatherings. We develop sustainable new creative projects and products for touring, alongside our annual Festival of Thrift.
We work in partnership with funders and investors to deliver our successful year-round programme and annual festival. In 2023 we joined Arts Council England’s national portfolio of arts organisations, TVCA’s festivals Scale Up programme.
We also work in partnership with national festivals and arts organisations, are a Global Streets touring network partner and actively contribute to a number of national sustainable arts networks.
