About us
Who we are
At FRS we strive to connect people to one another, to their Judaism and to the world. We are innovative, value-driven, caring, inclusive, joyful, ambitious and nurturing. We are there for our community at all life stages, and strive to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.
Our culture and values
In line with Reform Jewish values, we offer equal opportunities to everyone, and we are strongly committed to Israel. In our religious practice, we remain deeply connected to our tradition, while also aiming to experience Judaism through the lens of the current time.
We look both outwards and inwards in our work of healing the world (tikkun olam). For example, we host a weekly homeless shelter through the winter months, support the Jewish communities of Belarus and provide practical and emotional support to our members wherever it is needed.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Everyone should feel welcome and comfortable within our community, whether as a member, employee or guest. We actively seek to be as inclusive as possible in every aspect of our work. We've recently moved to anonymised recruitment practices as a way to ensure fairness and to oppose any chance of discrimination. For our membership, we are keen to welcome non-Jewish partners, we run inclusive Shabbat services for adults with additional needs in the local community, and we give financial support so that everyone can join in our activities.
