About us
Who we are
Fuel Bank Foundation is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting people who can’t afford to prepay for their energy. Without this help, families are left without heat, light, or power - unable to cook a hot meal, take a shower, or keep their children warm. We provide emergency fuel vouchers, practical advice, and longer-term support to help people stay connected and regain stability. Operating across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, we’ve supported over two million people. We also campaign for long-term change, collaborating with energy suppliers, local authorities, and policymakers to end fuel crisis for good, because no one should be left in the cold and dark.
Our culture and values
At Fuel Bank Foundation, our culture is rooted in compassion, impact, and collaboration. We exist to help people in crisis, and that purpose shapes how we work together every day. Our team may be small, but we are driven by shared values of integrity, respect, and determination to make a difference.
We foster an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone’s voice matters — whether you’re frontline, operations, or leadership. Our work can be challenging, but we celebrate our successes, support one another, and stay connected to the real-life impact of what we do. We believe that meaningful work, shared purpose, and trust create a great place to work.
Our values:
- Empathy: We work from a place of empathy, not sympathy or judgment.
- Ambition and bravery: We’re never afraid to take on big problems, challenge the status quo, or influence big organisations to join us in creating positive change.
- Collaboration: Big problems are never solved alone. We believe in building bridges, working together, and bringing people along on the journey rather than dictating the route.
- Commercial head, kind heart: Although we’re a charity at heart, we run our organisation with a commercial head.
Doing the right thing is a huge part of our culture - including doing the right thing for our employees. We want Fuel Bank to be a place where every team member can shine. To us, that means creating a workplace culture that helps you be your best self when you’re at work - and when you're not.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We need the best people on our team to help us achieve our goal of ending UK fuel crisis. To us, that means having a workforce of people with varied backgrounds, identities and lived experiences.
The process we use to recruit team members is fair and inclusive, and promotes diversity and equal opportunities. To make sure we are being open and can be held accountable, we make sure our recruitment, diversity and equal opportunities policy is easy to find and accessible to people with a range of different needs.
Key principles:
- Fairness and equality: We choose candidates based on merit and use a process that supports diversity and inclusion.
- Transparency: Our recruitment process, including advertising, shortlisting, interviews, and selection, is consistent and legally compliant.
- Supportive practices: We offer reasonable accommodations to candidates and aim to create a positive candidate experience.
