Who we are
About us
Hackney Migrant Centre (HMC) was established in 2008 to provide advice and support for migrants in Hackney and surrounding areas, irrespective of their immigration status. HMC is now, almost 20 years later, a respected advice provider supporting hundreds of migrants across London every year, and accredited to Level 3 by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA).
HMC delivers a free advice and support service for vulnerable migrants, focusing on immigration, housing, welfare, and healthcare access. We are dedicated to assisting our visitors in resolving immigration challenges, overcoming homelessness, and destitution in the long-term, while also addressing immediate concerns. Most of our visitors lack secure immigration status or have pending asylum claims, facing destitution due to their immigration status and hostile immigration policies.
HMC currently employs a team of staff and is supported by over 60 dedicated volunteers. We collaborate closely with several partner organisations to ensure visitors can access specialist advice and long-term support.
