About us
Who we are
HADCA is an independent registered charity which connects and supports communities, charities and volunteers across the Harrogate District of North Yorkshire.
We provide specialist information and resources to support local charitable groups, promote community action and campaign through local partnerships to make a positive difference, enabling local people to benefit from leading fulfilling and active lives and to make a positive contribution to local community life.
We produce a ‘Where To Turn Directory’ which provides easy to access information about hundreds of local community activities, support groups and charity services promoting good health and wellbeing.
To encourage more people to get involved and help out in their community, our Volunteering Directory offers a wide range of opportunities, to enable people find a role to match their interests and availability.
We are very proud of the success of our Help Out Harrogate and Community Fit projects in Harrogate and our Power of 10 project in Ripon, all working with partners to promote and support local volunteering and inspire adults and young people to explore new opportunities.
Our HELP services in Harrogate and Ripon provide support to people to help them live safely and well at home, and to stay connected with their local communities.
We manage Harrogate Community House, a local hub which provides affordable accommodation for 15 charity tenants and a range of well-equipped meeting spaces for the wider community, suitable for one to ones, training, workshops & group events for up to 25 people.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
HADCA recognises that many people in our society experience discrimination or lack of opportunity for reasons which are not fair. These include: race, religion, creed, colour, national and ethnic origin, political beliefs, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability (including mental illness), health, marital status, responsibility for dependants, appearance, social class, income level or criminal record.
We will challenge discrimination and lack of opportunity in our policies and practice and will help other organisations and individuals to do the same.
We aim to create a culture that respects and values each other’s differences and see these differences as an asset to our work as they improve our ability to meet the needs of the organisations and people we serve.
