About us
Who we are
HYT is a Trust that is making a dramatic difference to the lives of refugees and local communities in Uganda, with its innovative and acclaimed climate-friendly building technology and vocational training. The TEAM in Uganda is experienced, talented and committed to the kind of international development that really does improve opportunity, education and health for thousands of Ugandans and refugees, with practical and sustainable interventions that do not cost the earth.
We are RECOGNISED INTERNATIONALLY for the quality of the work in the field, for our relationships with partners and for an excellent work ethic that is inclusive, professional and generous. We are proud that the Ugandan Country Manager, Mauricia Nambatya, is an outstanding engineer and Commonwealth Scholar.
Our PARTNERS include local, national and international organisations, from small grass roots charities to large international agencies including UNHCR and the German and UK governments. Our work was recognised at COP26 in Glasgow and has won a major international award for sustainability.
Among others we are currently working with REFUGEES in Africa's largest REFUGEE SETTLEMENT and the remarkable BATWA people (formerly known as Pygmies) in Bwindi Impentrable Forest in south west Uganda.
