About us

Who we are

Hands Together Ludlow (HTL) works with partners, stakeholders and volunteers to create a more equitable community in and around Ludlow by reducing isolation, poor health and wellbeing and financial hardship. By bringing volunteers and beneficiaries together through a range of services, we fill the gaps, provide opportunities, and support the community to help itself.

Our core work includes: 1. Partnerships and Networking: we actively pursue opportunities to grow networks, opportunities for partnership working and ways to support smaller organisations. We continue to run our Community Connectors meetings (more than 50 members), Food Network (around 10 local groups regularly attend) and Food Group (a smaller working party of community food providers). We use our building to actively support other organisations by providing free space. 2. Project work: we develop and deliver activities and projects to meet specific and identified need in the town against our charitable objectives. These include a community fridge, men's shed, community lunches and much more.

Our culture and values

Vision:

Our vision is for a happy, hospitable, compassionate, and just community which helps people help themselves.

Mission:

In line with our charitable objects, HTL will work with key stakeholders and partners to evidence and address need within Ludlow and the surrounding area.

Beneficiaries:

All people living in and around Ludlow, but especially those who are at risk of social exclusion, isolation, and disadvantage.

Values that underpin HTL’s approach:

·         Respect for people. We value all those with whom we work, aiming to promote a more equal and just society. We treat people with compassion, generosity, and grace; at the same time motivating them to use their own experience and wisdom to gain independence and seek opportunities for themselves.

·         Well run services. We provide high quality services with professional standards and procedures, including safeguarding and training for volunteers as needed. We keep to any confidentiality agreements with the people we work with.

·         Partnering. We work alongside partner organisations and professional agencies avoiding duplication and unnecessary red tape for the benefit of the local community.

·         Ethical and sustainable. We strive to work only with agencies and companies which share our values and principles. We seek sustainability through independent fund raising.

·         Growing ambition. We aim to offer help for those living in isolated and rural areas away from Ludlow.

Key ambitions: To work with partners to help create a more equitable community in and around Ludlow, to increase health and wellbeing, improve quality of life, support people to improve their employment prospects (where relevant), meet the needs of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable, and address loneliness and isolation. HTL always aims to help people to remain independent and to help themselves, and not to increase dependence on services.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Hands Together Ludlow values diversity and promotes equality.  We encourage and welcome applications from suitably skilled candidates from all backgrounds.
