About us
Who we are
Herefordshire Mind was formed in 1978. Since then we have developed a range of services including residential and community support as the needs of our local community have changed.
Herefordshire Mind supports adults in Herefordshire with mental health problems that can present in many different ways. We are proud of our inclusive workforce and recognise how much stronger an organisation can be made by staff with a range of different backgrounds, experiences and ideas that come with it. We promote a culture of inclusion and representation and continue to work hard to build a workforce that can represent everyone within our community.
We are a registered charity and affiliated with National Mind.
Our culture and values
We believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you, whether you’re stressed, depressed or worried about someone else. We’ll listen, give support, and fight your corner.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Herefordshire Mind's work goes far beyond mental health support, they create a genuinely inclusive community where every person, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance, is treated with dignity and compassion. They provide accessible mental health services across Herefordshire, offering safe spaces, crisis support, advocacy, and practical help for people facing some of the toughest moments of their lives.
What makes them stand out is how intentionally they reach those who are most marginalised: people living in rural isolation, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, carers, those facing poverty, and anyone who feels they don’t “fit” into traditional services. Mind Herefordshire meets people where they are, without judgement, and with a commitment to understanding each person’s story.
Their staff and volunteers reflect the diversity they champion. They listen, they adapt, and they work collaboratively with local communities to make sure support is culturally aware, trauma‑informed, and genuinely accessible. In a county where services can be sparse and stigma can run deep, Mind Herefordshire has become a lifeline, not just offering help, but restoring hope.
