Who we are

With around 4,000 members in over 100 countries, IATEFL is one of the most thriving communities of ELT teachers in the world, and celebrates its 50th year in 2016/17. Our mission to “Link, develop and support English Language Teaching professionals worldwide” is achieved via an annual conference with over 2500 delegates,  regular online events, a range of print and digital publications,  15 special interest groups, and close links with over 120 teacher associations in other countries. We are a UK registered charity set up for the advancement of education for the benefit of the public in the English language as a foreign or second language, with a separate trading company to support our activity.
