About us
Who we are
Insecta Collective CIC is a grassroots climate action and arts organisation helping communities to foster emotional connections with nature, promoting social and environmental change at a local level. Our team is a visual artist, a scientist and a musician who share a passion for biodiversity. We believe it is critical to bring ecology education into the city, to remind urban communities of the benefits and importance of nature. Using art as a medium, we deliver climate and biodiversity themed events and experiences, for children, families and communities. Through workshops, exhibitions and public activities on and offline, we aim to immerse the people of Leicester and beyond in the wonders of the natural world using the medium of arts engagement. We want to empower those that feel powerless given the complexity and enormity of climate change. We help communities take small, climate friendly actions by delivering fun, family friendly events that are open to everyone, and aimed at those struggling financially and/or living in deprivation. By offering opportunities to learn new arts skills embedded with educational science knowledge for free, we inspire young people to practice creativity, build confidence and foster environmental stewardship. Our events promote climate compatible behaviour in the community and bolster community cohesion through shared experiences.
Our culture and values
We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves creatively.
We know that the climate crisis will be the most significant challenge facing us all in the future.
We are a grassroots organisation and almost all the work we do is on a voluntary basis.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Insecta Collective CIC is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our
workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination.
The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and our
customers, and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best.
The organisation - in providing goods and/or services and/or facilities - is also committed against
unlawful discrimination of customers or the public.
