About us
Who we are
Thank you for your interest in becoming part of the Institute of Registered Case Managers. The Institute of Registered Case Managers (IRCM) is a not-for-profit organisation whose mission is,
“To safeguard the public by setting and upholding standards for case managers."
How we are achieving this:
- We set and publish standards of proficiency that define safe and effective case management practice.
- We maintain a public register of Registered Case Managers who have demonstrated their eligibility and committed to practising in line with these standards and a Pre-Registrant Pathway for those working towards Registration.
- We operate a clear and fair concerns process so that issues can be reported, investigated, and addressed where a Registered Case Manager or Pre-Registrant may pose a risk to the public or to confidence in the profession.
We will be seeking accreditation from the Professional Standards Authority under its accredited register scheme.
Our culture and values
IRCM's Core Values
Inclusivity and Diversity: Case managers treat everyone equally and fairly, regardless of any personal or protected characteristics and circumstances; they strive to provide services that are inclusive, respectful, non-judgmental and value difference.
Compassion: Case managers relate with understanding, empathy, and kindness to service users and other stakeholders.
Person-centred: Case managers put the service user at the centre of their support, respecting the values of the service user and their experiences, and practising in their best interests.
Empowerment: Case managers strive to empower service users and their significant others, according to their specific values, needs, and goals; providing options, consulting, and collaborating with the service user (and appropriate stakeholders) in decision-making to create consensus and foster trusting and productive relationships.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are fundamental to ensuring that everyone is treated fairly, respectfully and with dignity. Equality means providing people with the same rights and opportunities while recognising and addressing potential disadvantages; diversity involves recognising, respecting and valuing individual differences; and inclusion means creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued and able to contribute. In line with the IRCM's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy and the Equality Act 2010, we are committed to preventing discrimination, harassment and victimisation, promoting equal opportunities, respecting protected characteristics, and supporting reasonable adjustments where needed. Applying these principles helps create an accessible and inclusive environment in which individual needs and differences are respected and everyone has a fair opportunity to participate.
