About us
Who we are
IPPF is a global federation and movement of 100+ locally led Member Associations in 150+ countries, dedicated to your sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice. Formed from a simple idea, a vision of a courageous group of women, we have grown into communities, into clinics, into classrooms and courts. We are healthcare providers, educators, activists, researchers, and volunteers. We are united by a commitment to equality and justice for everyone, everywhere. We are locally led and globally connected. We champion not only rights and dignity but also joy, intimacy, and pleasure that are essential to human wellbeing.
Our culture and values
In November 2025, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) formally adopted a new Charter of Values to guide its global federation of member associations. This charter defines a, bold, and inclusive culture rooted in social justice, feminist principles, and the belief that sexual and reproductive rights are universal human rights.
The Charter outlines seven key values that define IPPF's identity and commitment to action:
- Dignity: Upholding the inherent worth of all people, especially those affected by inequalities and exclusion.
- Equality: A commitment to intersectional, feminist, anti-racist, and anti-ableist principles.
- Justice: Viewing the struggle for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) as inseparable from the global fight for liberation.
- Pleasure: Affirming that pleasure in all its forms is a right, not a privilege.
- Community: Being locally rooted while globally connected, working in solidarity.
- Integrity: Maintaining high ethical standards, transparency, and accountability to the people and communities served.
- Resilience: Displaying strength and courage in the face of attacks on reproductive rights.

Key Cultural Pillars
- Feminist and Rights-Based: IPPF is a feminist organization that rejects colonial legacies and strives to dismantle systemic oppression.
- "The Fire" (Bold & Disruptive): The new brand identity reflects a "louder, prouder, and bolder" approach to advocacy, refusing to retreat in the face of opposition.
- Locally Led, Globally Connected: The organization is a federation of 100+ locally owned member associations that operate with high-level international standards.
- Safe Abortion Access: A core, unwavering commitment to making safe abortion legal and accessible for all women and girls.
- Voluntarism: A reliance on volunteers as activists and leaders to drive the mission.
Ethical & Operational Conduct
- Accountability: A strong focus on accountability to partners, donors, and beneficiaries, with mechanisms like the "SafeReport" for reporting concerns.
- Respect at Work: A commitment to a safe, non-discriminatory, and non-exploitative environment for all staff and volunteers, with strict policies against sexual harassment.
- Inclusivity: Actively serving underserved and marginalized populations.
Strategic Context
These values are encapsulated in Strategy 2028: "Come Together", which focuses on unity, collective power, and fighting for bodily autonomy for everyone, everywhere.
